# bailemo's privacy policy

We collect as little as we can and we never sell your information. This page explains exactly what bailemo stores, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

## Who we are

bailemo is a Latin dance network, with the mission of making it as easy as possible for you to find where to dance tonight. We are based in Edinburgh, UK. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, use the contact form (the envelope icon in the footer of any page) and we'll reply as soon as we can.

## What information we collect

### Contact form

If you contact us we store your name, email address and message so we can reply to you. That's all it's used for.

### Listing submissions

If you submit an event, class or festival we store the listing details, any image you upload, your organiser name and the email address you submit with. We use the email to verify and discuss your listing and to send occasional confirmation requests about events you've listed. Your submitter email is never displayed publicly on the site.

### Usage analytics

To understand which listings people find useful, we record things like pages visited, filters used, listings seen and clicked, and outbound clicks (for example to a ticket site or social profile). Each visit is tied to a random identifier stored in your browser - not to your name, and we don't use it to identify you. We also store your browser's user-agent string. Our own team and internal tooling are excluded from these statistics.

## Analytics, and what we don't do

Our analytics are built in-house for a single purpose: to show organisers which listings get attention, and to help us make bailemo better. We don't use Google Analytics, ad networks, social-media tracking pixels or any other third-party trackers, and we never sell or share your information with advertisers.

## Cookies and browser storage

bailemo doesn't use traditional cookies for tracking, but it does store a few things in your browser's local storage:

A random ID used only for the usage analytics described above.

Saved / interested items

The events and classes you've saved or marked as interested in, so they appear on your Saved page. This stays on your device.

Map cache

Coordinates of listing locations, so the map loads faster. No personal data.

Admin sign-in

A sign-in token, only if you log in to the admin area.

## How long we keep it and who sees it

Contact messages and submission emails are kept for as long as we need to manage the listing or enquiry. Analytics are kept in aggregate - individual browsing histories are not something we review or profile. Your data is stored with our hosting provider (which processes it on our behalf) and is otherwise accessible only to the bailemo team. We don't share it with anyone else.

## Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: show you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also object to us using it. For any of these, use the contact form and we'll act on it promptly. If you're ever unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

If this policy changes we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged on the site.
