No. In fact most people go to classes without one. Edinburgh classes rotate partners throughout the lesson, so solo dancers are the norm. Beginner courses are specifically designed for people turning up on their own.

For us at bailemo, all Latin dances are fantastic and so it really depends what you are looking for. Salsa is fast and fiery with a fiesta feel whilst bachata is slower with an arguably gentler learning curve. Salsa and bachata make up a large proportion of the scene here in Edinburgh so could be great first options. Kizomba and Cuban salsa are great if you are looking for connection.
