Not necessarily - many beginner Rueda classes in Edinburgh teach the basic step and partnering alongside the calls. Some prior partner-dance experience helps but isn't required.

How many calls do I need to know to join a Rueda?

Around 10 to 15 basic calls is enough to drop into most Edinburgh rueda circles. Regular weekly classes build the vocabulary naturally over a couple of months.

Can I dance Rueda without a partner?

Yes - Rueda is designed around swapping partners around the circle, so you'll dance with everyone over the course of the night. Solo dancers are welcome.
