What counts as a UK Latin dance festival?
A festival is a multi-day event dedicated to Latin dance. Sometimes they are referred to as weekenders, congresses or marathons. Although there are some distinctions to be made between each, they often follow the same epic formula of: featuring workshops with international artists, social parties late into the night and often live music. bailemo is the UK's only comprehensive location for finding all UK salsa, bachata, kizomba and Afro Latin
festivals happening across the UK.
Do I need a partner to go to a Latin dance festival?
No. Much like during your regular event or class, UK Latin festivals rotate partners in workshops and welcome solo dancers on the social floor. Turning up on your own is completely normal, with many attendees doing exactly that and it is actually a great way to meet new people and learn new dance styles.
I'm a beginner. Are UK Latin festivals right for me?
Yes, plenty of festivals run beginner sessions and taster workshops alongside their intermediate and advanced classes. If you have a few months of
classes under your belt you'll get a lot out of a weekender because you will learn so much, so quickly. Complete beginners may prefer to start with weekly classes and
socials first.
How much do UK Latin dance festivals cost?
Full passes for a UK weekender typically cost £90 – £180, with party-only passes usually £40 – £80. Bigger congresses with international headliners can cost a little more. Many are also located at hotels with organisers negotiating great hotel and food rates to keep costs as low as possible. Every festival card on bailemo shows pricing transparently so you can compare at a glance with easy to access outbound links to find out more.
Where in the UK are Latin dance festivals held?
Festivals run right across the UK but there are a few centres of gravity. Unsurprisingly London and Birmingham host multiple festivals a year between them. Additionally, Scotland has an excellent festival scene with between 3 - 5 SBK festivals held every year. Use our easy to navigate city filters to browse by location, or check the month filter to see what's coming up.
